Cadet Robert Christian Mundy, Jr. is a member of the group of cadets to be awarded the Cadet Medal of Valor. On April 4, 2012, Mundy used his first aid training to save the life of a College of Charleston student. Read the full article.
Four Citadel students will be awarded the Cadet Medal of Valor on Thursday, May 3, for life-saving actions in two separate incidents that occurred 10 days apart this month.

Preston McLaughlin’s father, Dr. John Francis McLaughlin, Jr., passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2012. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 17, at James A. McAlister Funeral Home, with the Rosary service at 6:30 PM. His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, from the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 120 Broad Street, Charleston, SC. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Highway 61 in Charleston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either Disabled American Veterans, 109 Bee Street, Charleston, SC 29401, or to the Wounded Warrior Foundation, 2115 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101.

The March gathering will be held at Coleman Public House Thursday, March 15 at 6:30. We will be in the bar area instead of the back room. Please email Bill yaeger if you will be able to attend so Bill can let Brian know how many to expect. Remember all wives/girlfriends are invited.
We are sad to report that Col Harvey Dick passed away today, Saturday, January 28, 2012. The Citadel has created a page celebrating the life of Col. Dick at http://www.citadel.edu/root/harveydick.
Col Dick's visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, in Summerall Chapel on The Citadel campus.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, also in Summerall Chapel. Burial will follow the funeral service at Carolina Memorial Cemetery in North Charleston.
A reception at The Citadel's Holliday Alumni Center, 69 Hagood Ave., will follow the burial.
Frank Byrdic passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at West End Baptist Church. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grandview Memorial Park-Cherry Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Frank's name to the American Heart Association, 310-B Bennett Center Dr., Greer, SC 29650 or to West End Baptist Church, 1727 McConnells Hwy., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
